Homicide detective Jane Law investigates by the book. She dots her I’s and crosses her T’s because that is how you catch killers. She works for the victims and their families to give them answers. It’s that simple. Or at least it was.
“I saved a life and all I got was this lousy knife.” Jane knows the words and the nacre-handled blade, but what was it doing at the scene where two people lay butchered? Her mentor has bent some rules in the past but he’s not a murderer. Why then did she pick up the bloody knife and hide the evidence? Her split-second decision could cost her big as she sorts out who she can trust and hunts a killer unlike any she’s tracked before.
She's a cop. He's a criminal. Can she learn to trust one killer to catch a monster?
Her goal has always been to help, and she failed when a murderer walked on her watch. Now Jenna Stone is a detective on a mission to right a wrong and protect those she put at risk by freeing a murderer. When one of the women she vowed to protect turns up dead, she’s convinced Ray Sandstorm is at it again. As more women disappear, she discovers the man she thought responsible might not be her enemy but her best chance to put a stop to the killing.
